About Me

As a nationally certified sex therapist and certified EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapist, I have experience and expertise working with a wide range of sexual issues, relationship & attachment issues, and traumatic experiences.

I hold Master’s degree in Clinical Community Counseling from Johns Hopkins School of Education and post-graduate degree in Holistic Sex Therapy from the Institute for Sexuality Education and Enlightenment. I am certified as a Sex Therapist by the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists (AASECT) and a certified EMDR therapist through the EMDR International Association (EMDRIA).

I specialize in working with individuals who want to learn to manage depression and anxiety symptoms and heal from past traumatic events in order to live more fulfilling lives. I work with couples who desire a more deepened connection, who struggle with desire discrepancy, and who wish to repair from difficult events. I also work with clients who are in midst of a crisis of infidelity, relationship strain, sexual dysfunction, or who are exploring their identities. I work with individuals who struggle with a sexual dysfunction, gender or orientation confusion, or who experience their sexual behavior as out of control. I am an ally to LGBTQA+, to individuals in open relationships/consensual non-monogamy and an ally for social justice. I am a sex-positive psychotherapist and kink-aware.

My entire career has consisted of psychotherapy in outpatient settings; I’ve worked with the uninsured in an integrated medical setting, in sexual assault and domestic violence centers, with offenders of domestic violence, and for fee-for-services outpatient agencies in the community. In my advanced career, I’ve devoted my career to improving sexual health and healing trauma. I am also an educator and consultant; my plan is to continue supervising and teaching to bring about more sex-positive clinicians in the community. I continue on a higher education track focused on human sexuality and training with the Sensorimotor Institute. The Sensorimotor Institute provides a body-centered approach to processing trauma; this therapy draws from somatic therapies, neuroscience, attachment theory, and cognitive approaches, as well as from the Hakomi Method. I am a Board Approved Supervisor for LGPCs in the state of Maryland and an EMDR consultant-in-training.

The overall modalities I used in therapy are sex-positive approaches, mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy skills, Sensorimotor psychotherapy, and Imago and Gottman Method approaches for couples therapy. I use what methods clients are interested in or choose the methodology that fits best for the individual and/or couple.

I am bilingual (Spanish) and bicultural. I strive to respect various cultures and identities and learn more from my clients via the work that we do together. My goal is to provide you a supportive therapeutic environment regardless of sexual orientation, sexual expression, gender expression, relationship orientation, or gender identity. I have experience in working with non-monogamous/polyamorous relationships and I am kink aware.
